As part of the Cross Canada 45,000 kilometre 106 day route the Olympic torch passed through Georgina on Friday on it's way to British Columbia and the 2010 games. Some of the route is by land some by sea and some by air.
Here are some photos we took as my grandchildren and I watched it pass by.

That must have been a sight to see and to participate in the events as well.
Hi Kathy - Nice photos of the torch run in Georgina. I took photos in Pickering and Markham but still need to go through them all to figure out which ones to post. It looks like you saw the caravan but that they didn't stop for a speech or for a big celebration in your area.
That must have been so exciting. What a great thing to experience with your grandchildren!
Kathy,
How wonderful that you and your Grandchildren got to witness this....I love your photos!

Kathy,
I'm glad to see that it was "uneventful". By the time it got over to the Grand River, it was marred by protestors.
Brian
Tom - It went by rather quickly but it was good for my grandchildren who always love a parade of any kind.
Marc - where we were it was over in a few minutes as it just passed by on it's journey to BC
Sharon - I am sure it was something they will remember forever
Jo - Creating memories of and for my grandchildren is something I do on an ongoing basis. I am always amazed at the things my own children remember that was important enough to them at the time that they mention it many years later as adults
Brian - there was no big crowd or TV cameras to encourage them
Kathy,
That's great, then, that's the way it should be.
